Cycling the Loggerhead Bike Path

Updated: Mar 1, 2023

A favorite family pastime on Cape San Blas is cycling the Loggerhead Bike Path. The path runs the length of Cape San Blas from Salinas Park to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. It is 8.7 miles long and offers a safe place for walking, running, cycling, and skating. There are points along the path well suited for bird watching and wildlife viewing. The southern end at Salinas Park offers a picnic area and rest rooms.  But most families enjoy cycling the center stretch of the path to get to the shops, go for donuts, or for ice cream.  If it’s too much trouble to bring your own bicycles, several places on the Cape offer rentals. See our Area Info for outfitters. Several of them deliver.

There are also numerous nature trails located throughout the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park.  Hike along the gulf beach, bay shore, and interior nature trails to observe the park’s wildlife and natural beauty.
